Pic-Time Stories: Shari & Mike

For Shari and Mike, photography isn’t just a profession, it’s a shared rhythm that runs through their marriage, their business, and their life as parents. Based in Canada, the husband-and-wife duo behind Shari + Mike Photographers is known for capturing honest, heart-forward stories that reflect the people at the center of them.

Their style is deeply relational. While wedding days are full of beauty and celebration, their focus is on how people feel. Shari and Mike have an intuitive, people-first approach: supporting the couple, reading the room, helping clients feel grounded in the day.

It’s these small but intentional choices that lead to their most meaningful images.

“We love weddings. We love the connection, we love the emotion of the day.”
— Shari & Mike

Over the years, Shari & Mike have found a flow in working together, each leaning into their strengths without overpowering the other. That harmony reveals itself in their photographs. Whether it’s a joyful blur of movement or a quiet, tucked-away moment, their work is full of presence and emotion - the kind of memories you can’t pose or repeat.

“Our number one priority at a wedding isn’t necessarily to take photos. Our approach to it is to support our couples.”

Some moments carry more weight than others.

At one wedding, a bride named Amy, recently diagnosed with cancer and newly a mother, chose to celebrate surrounded by the people she loved most. Shari captured her mid-laughter, wrapped in the joy of the day. At another, a grandmother who was gravely ill made it to the ceremony against all odds. She passed away that same night, and the final images taken of her were theirs.

Moments like these are a reminder: sometimes a photograph becomes more than memory.

“For me, that image, it’s more than just the photo. It really for me is like what life is about.”
— Shari

For Shari and Mike, photography is a way of honoring life. Not just the big moments, but the fleeting ones. The imperfect, unscripted, deeply human ones.

These days, their daughter Auggie is at the heart of it all. Becoming parents added new depth to their understanding of connection. One of their most cherished images is of Shari holding Auggie as a newborn, soft light wrapping around them, emotion and mystery captured in a single frame.

Yes, they’ve built a business they’re proud of. Yes, they’ve built a life filled with love and intention. But more than anything, they’re building a legacy of presence for their clients, for each other, and for the little storyteller already growing up by their side.

“Yes, we’ve built a business that we’re proud of. Yes, we’ve built a life that we’re proud of. We’re really proud of Augie. She is really why we do everything now.”
