How Cinemate Evolved Their Wedding Video Delivery with Pic-Time

When Scottish wedding videography duo Simon and Gregg of Cinemate Films first started using Pic-Time, they found creative ways to showcase their work through embedded videos.

Fast forward to late 2024 when the Video Delivery feature in Pic-Time was released, and Cinemate’s pushing the boundaries of what's possible now with native video upload.

"When we first heard Pic-Time was introducing native video hosting, we were honestly thrilled," says one half of the Cinemate duo, Gregg.

"We've been using the platform to deliver our wedding films for quite some time now, and while it's always been a solid option for photographers, we felt the addition of video would make it a complete game changer for videographers like us."

“The convenience of having everything - both photos and videos - under one roof just makes sense.”
— Gregg, Cinemate

A Professional Platform

"The way the native videos are displayed in the gallery looks really clean and professional," says Gregg. "The design and aesthetics are on point, which adds a nice touch to the overall experience for our clients."

Video Delivery inside Pic-Time supports everything from feature length films to social media snippets at their highest quality - with native 4K video, auto-playing clips capability, and up to 5TB storage capacity.

How They Use It Today

Today, Cinemate leverages two key features to deliver their wedding films:

1. Featured Videos for Main Films: "We're using the featured videos to upload our main wedding films and highlight edits," Gregg shares. "They look amazing in the gallery and it really simplifies things for our couples since they can download everything directly from there."

2. Clips for Social Content: "We've been experimenting with the Clips feature by adding a couple of short Reels edits to our couples' galleries. It's been a fun way to give them something ready-made for social sharing," Gregg explains. "I've also been using it to add clips for phone content creation, which has opened up some cool opportunities."

Creating New Opportunities

The platform's flexibility enables diverse content delivery options.

"Some photographers and videographers are concerned about the competition from content creators," Gregg notes. "So offering these short clips could be a way for them to expand their services and compete with content creators by adding more value to what they already deliver."

Building Vendor Relationships

One unexpected benefit of built-in video is strengthened vendor relationships.

"Vendors can even download Clips specific for their field - like florists, planners, or DJs - and create their own Reels from them, which is a win-win for everyone," says Gregg.

Business Benefits

The switch to native video hosting has brought multiple advantages:

"The biggest benefit for us," says Gregg, "is the convenience - just being able to upload videos directly to the same place we're delivering the films, without having to mess around with embedding, is awesome."

On costs: "Not having to pay for a separate video hosting service will be a great cost-saver too!" While acknowledging that "Paying for storage is always a bit of a pain," Gregg notes the possibility to cut out third-party services and subscriptions could prove helpful.

New Revenue Potential

"The ability to sell downloads has got me brainstorming ways to use that to increase revenue as well!" Gregg says.

"Including some video clips or short films as part of a package could be a great selling point, but selling additional downloads or full-length films might open up a new revenue stream. This way, you're not just offering one product but giving clients more flexibility to get what they want."

The Cinemate team also regularly pull stills from their videos to share and sell via their Pic-Time store - with help from sales apps and automations - creating another revenue stream for their business.

The Results

"[Video in Pic-Time] is super flexible, which means filmmakers and photographers can use it in different ways, depending on what they need," says Gregg.

"The way it's structured with Feature Videos is perfect for our full films or highlight edits, and the Clips feature is a game changer for social media edits or quick snippets."

"Honestly, it's been great so far! Pic-Time has really delivered on what we were hoping for," Gregg concludes. "It's made everything a lot more streamlined. So far, no complaints – it's working really well for us!"
