The Benefits of Blogging for Wedding Photographers

The Benefits of Blogging for Wedding Photographers

Written by Aida Glowik, Photographer & Podcaster

Blogging is one of the best online marketing tools that wedding photographers can utilize to reach and book their right-fit clients. Nevertheless, the process of blogging has a tendency to have multiple steps and is time-consuming.

The new Pic-Time Blogs tool makes this process so seamless and cuts back on the time it takes to integrate a blog into a website.

Let’s take a moment to cover the various ways that blogging can benefit wedding photographers.

Benefit #1: Consistency Is Key

As a photographer, it is important that you showcase the work that you are proud of in the form of a portfolio. This is where you can visually display your style and approach to photography and weddings. Your images are a crucial part of your wedding photography brand - blogging on a regular basis allows you to keep growing and solidifying your brand.

You are able to share your blog on various social media platforms e.g. Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook, etc. - this keeps you and your work top-of-mind with your audience and potentially increases your reach.

Benefit #2: Work With Your Right-fit Clients

As much as there is a plethora of wedding photographers, there is also a huge pool of potential clients - therefore, it is crucial to attract the right kind of clients to your business. One of the many deciding factors for a potential client is the style of your photography and how you are able to capture a wedding day.

In your blogs, you are able to convey your approach to weddings not only with your images but also with your words. Blogs give you the space and opportunity to share your storytelling style, point-of-view, and personality.

You can draw in your readers with how you describe a full wedding day and narrate the story. This is a great way to make your work resonate with the right audience and build trust. This is part of the puzzle that allows you to attract and work with more and more right-fit clients that are aligned with you and your brand.

Tip: Don’t forget to add a call-to-action at the end of your blog, inviting them to get in touch with you.

Benefit #3: Keep Your Website Fresh

Some weddings might start to feel a bit outdated over time, so it is a good idea to replace them with more recent work. Now that the blogs can be done in the same workflow as the gallery, you can easily keep them up to date.

Blogging also provides you with SEO juice. Search engines like Google love fresh content on websites. Your website ranking is a great way to reach potential clients.

Benefit #4: Create Valuable Content

Client experience begins the moment a potential client comes in contact with your business. The first touchpoint that some clients may have with you could be one of your blog posts. Imagine that they gain so much value from reading and engaging with that blog post, they already have a stellar experience.

Sure, you can just share about the couple and their wedding day on a blog post, but what about taking it a step further? Why not share more of your expertise in your blog posts? This can be achieved in a multitude of ways: For example, you can keep it super specific to the confines of the wedding and provide additional details on the wedding items (such as wedding attire, wedding rings, flowers, etc.) Or you can write on a broader scale and provide insights on the location, transportation options, activities in the area, and more.

The point is you can provide useful information that goes beyond photography. It all depends on how you choose to serve your clients and how it aligns with your brand.

Benefit #5: Build Vendor Relationships

Building and marketing your business on your own  can be challenging. It is simply more fun and rewarding to grow your business in collaboration with other creatives in the industry.

One of the most valuable assets photographers possess is the images that they produce. Most vendors are either so busy on the wedding day (or aren’t even present) that they normally don’t even get a chance to capture their creations.

They truly appreciate getting access to beautiful images to promote their businesses. Moreover, when they are credited on a photographer’s website (blog), not only does it provide them with exposure to potential clients, but it also gives them back-links to their websites which is useful for SEO.

Building vendor relationships are mutually beneficial. More than likely, they will also share the blog post with their audience. This gets your work in front of more people. They are also more likely to recommend you when the opportunity presents itself.
